About me.
My name is Alexandra Givens, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida with a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Business from the University of South Florida. Alexandra’s therapeutic approach is educational, psychoanalytic, CBT- and person-centered, aiming to educate and empower clients to believe in their ability to take life’s challenges as opportunities for growth and create new healthy habits and thought processes.
Her practice style utilizes her experience in working with a plethora of different populations, including a wide array of cultures and religious backgrounds, which she gained from personal experience with her own family and traveling around the world, practicing in an Agency setting, Private Practice and Social Services organizations where she helped children, adolescents, adults, families and couples. Alexandra’s current goal is to utilize her experience and education to provide therapy for adolescents, adults, families and couples specializing in teaching skills for dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, loss, stress, self-esteem, emotional abuse, communication skills, adjusting to life changes, anger, cultural concerns, biculturalism, personality disorders, bipolar, lack of motivation, parenting skills, career challenges, and other barriers to mental health services. Alexandra strives to assess within the full context of an individual’s life. This includes being considerate of various interlocking identities, ways in which current relationships may influence presenting concerns, as well as past and present experiences. She aims to inspire a belief in each individual’s power to succeed with a nonjudgmental, caring and confidential environment. The goal is to work together, educate clients to learn new perspectives and lasting skills to build successful lives. Please feel comfortable contacting Alexandra for a consultation.

Individual counseling
We will work together
Alexandra works with adolescents and adult individuals who are facing a wide range of emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual issues. They are high-functioning, creative individuals who feel stuck, unfulfilled, and generally out of sync with the lives that they lead for a variety of internal and external reasons.
Often, these feelings are the guides that motivate us to ask the questions that help us uncover the roots of what we have been experiencing. She will work hard to meet you where you are and, with your feelings as a guide, we will work together to discover what you need to feel comfortable and safe in your unique relational home.
Once you are comfortable, you and Alexandra will listen to whatever is present in your mind, body, goals, relationships, and experiences, exploring the issues that you are facing and discovering opportunities for growth, change, relief and healing.
This journey may not always be easy, but the opportunities for self-discovery and understanding can have a rewarding and lasting impact on your life. If you are ready to start your healing journey moving through the challenges you are facing and re-emerge into a more fulfilling life, or you would like to learn more about the therapeutic practice, please feel comfortable contacting Alexandra.
Couples and Family counseling
We will get trought this togetherWhen we feel like we have lost ourselves in a relationship, we often turn to detached intimacy, communication of disparaging form, and dysfunctional habits and behaviors. These expressions can present themselves in the form of unhealthy fighting, ultimatums, and unrealistic expectations that can lead to feelings of disappointment, anger, resentment and guilt. It starts to become easy to ask ourselves “How did we get here?” and “Can we repair this?”.
Together we can work to disentangle the enmeshed relationship dynamics, reconstruct and learn healthy patterns of communication, adaptive behaviors and restore feelings of fondness. Alexandra builds a safe space for the couple to express themselves, explore the range of unconscious behavioral and communication patterns, and return to a place of mutual respect.
Together, we will journey through unhealthy patterns in your relationship to achieve a place of shared empathy and togetherness, which can relieve relationship stress. Alexandra’s observations allow for intervention on existing issues as they come to light, so that you and your partner can act with respect, admiration, and love in the future.
If you are ready to start the healing journey with your partner or family, please contact Alexandra to schedule an appointment.
Currently Alexandra is providing telehealth therapeutic sessions with face to face sessions as an option in the future.
